For Time AND All Eternity ∞

Back in June, we were able to be married for time. Our Bishop ended the ceremony with, "as long as you both shall live" and "I now pronounce you husband and wife, legally and lawfully wedded for the period of your mortal lives."

Though our wedding brought us joy and we were happy to be getting married, that one phrase brought sadness to both of us, and we felt a greater desire to get to the temple.

You see, in the temple, a marriage is sealed by the power of God, binding Him as a partner in the union, and it is promised to endure through the eternities. NOTHING sounds better than having that promise from our Heavenly Father.

So, on September 5, 2020, almost exactly three months after we were civilly married, we went together to the House of the Lord in Payson, Utah and were sealed. During that sacred ordinance, we could feel Heavenly Father's approval, and we rejoiced to know that He is now an equal partner in our marriage. We could also feel the presence and love of ancestors there with us.

In order to receive the full blessings of our marriage covenant, we must stay true to God and to each other for the remainder of our lives. He asks us to be faithful, devoted, understanding, and full of love for Him, our Savior, and each other. "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one" (Genesis 2:24)

We are so grateful for the blessing and opportunity we have had to be sealed in the holy temple. We are also so grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ that is leading and will continue to lead us through these perilous last days.

We are also very grateful for the family and friend support we have received over the last few months (near and far) - THANK YOU!

  1. Dear Casey and Troy, Your wedding story is so beautifully expressed in writing and it was truly wonderful for me (and Austin) to have been there in person with you, on that very special day. I love all of the pics! :) As you know, I was so emotional that day, overflowing with joy, gratitude and the blessings of the Holy Spirit. I, too, felt that ancestors were there with us all, smiling down, cheering you on and bestowing additional blessings upon you. :) As you know, our many extended family members (on Troy's side) were also with you that day, in their thoughts, good wishes, love and prayers. It was so great to meet and get to know you, Casey (we love you!!), along with your warm, wonderful, very welcoming family members. Thanks for the love, patience and TLC (including road-trip snacks/water!) you provided while we were there. We wish you weren't such a long distance away, but we will always be close in our hearts- and will stay connected, thankfully, through modern technology and the good ol' phone. (and snail mail) I am so proud of you both- it's inspiring and very dear to see how you are working together to continue on with a blessed, happy, spirit-filled future together. I know our General Conference this coming weekend will be awesome! Sending hugs your way, Mom (Karen) P.S. I like the clever name of your blog. ;)
